  • 5 star ratingCream tea yum Stopped here for a short break from our coach. Cream tea very nice two scones so make sure you are Hungary. Tea easy two cups. Staff very friendly and smiley friendly. Very pleasant garden to sit in even a covered area if it's raining.(see pic). Two cream teas, £13.50.

5 star ratingAmazingly We were recommended this restaurant by the owners of the bed and breakfast we stayed in. Our table was booked for us and how pleased were we it was suggested we eat here. The food was absolutely amazing we ate our food at a leisurely pace never once being hurried. Service was excellent and we shared a lovely bottle of red. Would highly recommend this restaurant if your visiting Shanklin 5 star all the way

4 star ratingModern a la carte - a good find Modern but comfortable decor, good drinks selection, good menu choices, meals a good size, well presented, very tasty.

Slow cooked lamb shoulder was great. Cider marinated pork a little bland.

£55 for two mains and a bottle of wine.

5 star ratingQuaint, relaxing, place to be Have passed this place several times and finally going in regretted I left it so long to visit. Great food, great service, great beer. Felt so welcomed even though it was getting busier. Definitely will be back even if it's just for tea and cake as had no room for it after eating shanklin pie.

5 star ratingGreat food Lovely place to eat. Nice sized restaurant, not too big but enough to make a atmosphere. Staff can’t do enough to help and were friendly and courteous. But it’s the food that really makes or kills a place and the food here is fresh and cooked to order. Really well worth a visit if you’re in the area.

  • 4 star ratingA delightful Lunch Stopped for Lunch in the newly named ‘Coast’. I can’t remember what it was called before, but they have changed the old ‘50’s Style’ interior to be more modern and simpler.

We sat outside on the top decking, in the Sun, overlooking over the Sea, and we had a simply delightful time. The seating, comfort, service, cleanliness were all up to the mark, and you would have to search for a long time in the UK to do better.

I have to say that my ‘Ribs’ were an adequate dish rather than being noteworthy. However to be where we were you have to expect to pay a premium on the prices, and as such I mark the food as reasonable, all things considered.

All in all, a great time was had and I would not hesitate to visit again (noting that all the Island hostelries do vary on a day to day basis so an element of luck is required).

5 star ratingExcellent Dinner This restaurant did not disappoint. Lovely atmosphere, excellent varied menu and very good service.

We shared a starter of dips with bread, which was very tasty.

My wife had the chicken breast which was well presented and succulent.

I had the Tagliatelle which was served with a Carbonara style sauce. Both mains were incredibly tasty.

For dessert, we again shared the ‘Taste of Chocolate’ which consisted of a trio of chocolate treats. All I can say is ‘Wonderful’

The restaurant is fairly small and very popular, so I would recommend you book in advance to avoid disappointment.

I would thoroughly recommend a visit to this restaurant.

5 star ratingFantastic little restaurant We were staying in Shanklin during mid October and we stumbled on this great little place whilst out walking. From the outside it looked exactly what we were looking for so returned later the same day. We had a great table and the owner was really pleasant as were all the staff.

The menu is a combination of English, Italian and European with some great choices of meals, wines and beers.

We had a first class meal coupled with some vey nice bottles of wine and overall this was a great experience and we have no hesitation in recommending Pendletons and we shall certainly return.

5 star ratingGreat welcome and home made food Having booked for a 7.30 show at Shanklin Theatre the 4 of us decided to arrive early and find somewhere to eat. Advertised and visible from the main car park, we decided to try Vernon Cottage, and we're delighted we did!

From the moment we walked through the door we were welcomed warmly by the owner who asked if we'd booked. We hadn't, and despite clearly having to juggle with some prebooked tables, we were quickly shown to a table. The food, clearly home made was really delicious. The Shanklin pie was ordered by the two men and highly rated, I had sausages & mash with onion gravy and the other main was fishcakes & salad. All very generous portions and promptly served.

The restaurant & tea room were all very busy but everyone was greeted and served with a friendly smile....excellent customer service.

5 star ratingDinner Very good food, presented well. Welcoming staff. Homemade (on site) relish on cheese board is worth a revisit on its own!

Delicious handmade truffle style chocs with bill are a lovely touch.

4 star ratingFabulous food in a relaxed atmosphere The three of us had a great three course dining experience. Delicious food presented by cheery staff.

My only negative comments would be 1) the menu was fairly limited and 2) the salmon fishcake starter needed more salmon and less potato. Regardless of which, we enjoyed our meals, even our fussy 11 year old!

5 star ratingFriday Steak night Saw the advertisement for Friday night Steak deal 2 10oz IOW rumps. (Sirloin & other cuts available) with all the trimmings including a nice rocket salad and bottle of wine (had Chilean Merlot) for £30. Service from Beth & Lou was first class. Steaks came out perfect, medium rare and medium and both great cuts and texture, all piping hot and fresh. A lot of competition around but Coast restaurant & Bar is pulling the stops out. We ate inside as it got a little cold as the sun went in.
